Hey there fantsy pants

I made Owen a pair of pants this morning! I think they are pretty snazzy...only they need a bit of altering! Next pair will hopefully be a bit better. Oh well...a long shirt and no one will ever know!

We had a very busy and productive weekend. I found some great ornamental grasses on Craigslist and we went and dug them up and transplanted them in our front and side yard. Here is proof! Also my friend Becky that is moving to San Fran gave me a bunch of her plants so we spent some time digging and making all those plants happy too. (Thanks Becky! I love them and it was fun planting!) Here is the planter on the front porch...it isnt going anywhere. I retacked it with a bunch of nails and it is solid again!

Thanks G.G. Jean for the jammies you made Owen. He just wants to play peek-a-boo with the gown! It is really soft though and he loves it.

I also got my tattoo finished! Just in time for spring!

we got owen his very own tooth brush! He loves it! He is up to 8 teeth total and new ones daily! He got 1 in Texas and a day after we got back I realized we were so focused on the 1 tooth that we looked over the fact that he actually got 2 at tthe same time. Then the next day I saw another one starting to poke through, then the next day another...and so on. Once they stared they just took off!

getting the garden going

We are starting to get the garden up and going so we went to the feed store and THEY HAVE CHICKS!!! Funny we were just talking about getting the coup built so we can get some! Nothing could initiate us faster than seeing the cute little chicks! Owen loved them! He lunged for them. (and do not worry we washed his hands after touching them!)

Favorite toy of the week

I have decided to keep track of Owen's favorite toy of the week! It is so funny that something he finds totally cool this week is not interesting in the least next week! This week he is totally into a bath ball and a tupperware cup! He thinks it is really cool when the ball goes in the cup and he has to get it out. I know the picts are a bit blurry but here is the progression.
step 1. try to pick up ball in cup
step 2. try again
step 3. dump ball out of cup
step 4. put ball in mouth
step 5. momma puts cup on my head
step 6. fall over and get mad!

More photos from Texas

These palm trees everywhere! I thought of you Jamie!

I finally got my photos from Mike's computer, so here are a few more pictures from Texas. The capitol building was beautiful. It was really georgous at night all lit up. This fountain was on the lawn, I thought it pretty!
Gutter punks with their dogs!

There was such great art all around austin. Here is a wonderful mural that was on "the drag" right across from the campus. This picture of Dylan was accompanied by pictures of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Janis and...who else, oh Jimmi Hendrix.
There was a "hip" clothing store on the drag but
Mike and I liked their decor better than their clothes! Two walls full of albums, groovy furniture, and an all metal Tonka truck! Luggage that Mike said his mom had! All the lamps and deco stuff was a blast from the past. Way cool!
The infamous Texas Tower.

6 months

Owen had his 6 month wellness check yesterday. Wow, can you all believe it? 6 months. Next thing you know he will be a year. Mom and i were already talking about a 1year birthday party. Can you believe it? They were not joking when they said it would go quick! Any who I do not really have any picts. But here are a couple from before. (sorry mom. i love this picture!) Owen weighed 20lbs1oz and was 28". He has started sitting so well and is a rolling machine. It is amazing once they get something they really get it! He is becomming more vocal and playing with his vocal expressions. He has a great variety of sounds. He is going to be crawling anyday. He is really pushing himself up on all 4's and rocking. He is doing complete 360's scooting around. Nothing is safe anymore.

silly pics

Owen has started enjoying Pat-a-cake! (thanks to grandma!)

we were playing with the ball and rolling it to owen when he discovered he could kick it up and play with it like a circus animal. What do you think, should we send him off with the circus?

Owen kisses, the greatest kisses of all!

back home again..yeah

Well we made it! Once again Owen did absolutly awesome until the very last leg of the trip. On the flight back to Portland he lost it. I could not get him to nurse or relax for anything. Of course after he cried himself to sleep and we were waiting at the baggage claim a man came to give me advice on how to deal with the pressurization. Thanks. He just would not have anything I tried to do. I think he almost bit off my nipple :( I was waiting for more folks to start giving me tips for next time. I am really glad he was the only one!
He slept fairly well last night. We fell into Texas time way too easily so I am a bit worried about getting back on time here. I think it will be a bit easier than I thought. We went to take a "nap" at 6:30 last night. We officially got up at 6:30 this morning! There were a couple of wakes and nursing moments throughout but not bad. It is time to get back to normal and no more night wakes. He was up about every 2 hours while we were gone. He was also teething but I think it was just a combo of everything. Travel, new place, teething and no more grandma! After we get all settled in I will upload some photos. I have to get them off of Mike's camera and computer.
Time to unpack :(
here are some pics from when mom was in town.

still in texas

unfortunately Owen has not been the main attraction lately so I do not have many new pictures of him! (Unfortunately for all ya all-fortunately for me!) I forgot to mention that we are using disposable diapers on this trip and the picture of Owen in the previous post of him grabbing himself should make a bit more sense now!!! no he was not just grabbing himself for the hell of it! or at least i don't think so!! last night we checked out the Alamo and the River Walk. Ate dinner on the river and walked about town a bit. Nice city. street signs suck and the roads are really crazy. other than that the weather is fab. I think i got a bit of a sunburn today. (a bit exaggerated...i got a bit pink. not hard to do since i am pasty white!) I have not been able to do a whole lot since i have to pick the boys up at 11:30 everyday for lunch. We are far enough from downtown that as soon as i would get down there get parked and get to exploring i wouldn't have long. Tomorrow the school is taking them to lunch so i may go downtown for a gander.

The Sutton Hall is in Austin at the University of Texas. That place was beautiful. So much history and the architecture was amazing. We came back to the hotel and read up on the 1966 Charles Whitman tower shootings that took place there. Pretty creepy. Sad.

It was actually the 171st anniversary at the Alamo. There was a "celebration" (for lack of better terms) over the weekend but we went on Tuesday so there was not much going on. And it was already closed by the time we got there.

Texas

Howdie there y'all. We made it to Texas! The last week and a half was total mayhem so here is a quick update to let you all know that we are well and a few pictures so that I do not get yelled at! I will take some more time tomorrow hopefully to update and throw in more pics.. until then...
